Bespoke Educational and Social Services Projects

Early Learning Network

UKERI™ provides face-to-face educational consultancy and develops associated content and supporting tools, all of which is typically consolidated through an underlying secure web-based information/ resource portal. Over it’s 30+ year history thousands of UK schools and academies have used one or more of UKER’s services, national programmes, locality projects or web sites and software.

If you would like to gain access to any aspect of the exemplar work described below, or develop your own solution to a problem then please get in contact. The intellectual property of the concepts and technology behind these resources remain with UKERI.

Exciting new UKERI projects in 2024…

UKERI ‘DBE+’

DBE Plus’ is an exciting new, powerful & pre-populated diocesan-level reporting tool to further empower evidence-driven practices, inform risk registers, reports, strategies, and generally bolster advocation for the value-added contribution of diocesan schools, academies and MATs. The resource makes use of our powerful and configurable ‘eData’ compare and contrast platform, developed to help organisations manage ‘big data’, employing computational documentation and AI techniques to massively cut staff time otherwise spent analysing spreadsheets etc., thus releasing them for front-line support.

UKERI ‘Diocesan Support Service’ (DSS) – a technology enriched support service

For use by diocesan education teams, ‘DSS‘ does not replicate existing provision, but increases capacity through value-added services, each of which can be tailored, branded and re-presented as an enriched part of a diocese local offer. By enabling alternative delivery mechanisms the project extends the capacity of a diocese to offer universal support to all diocesan MATs, schools and academies. This releases overstretched diocesan teams to prioritise their time on those with immediate challenges and issues.

The developed services (each brandable to individual diocese) have been identified from a research project into those areas where alternative sources of provision have the most potential to bring capacity relief.

Component service offers can be accessed on a pick-and-mix basis, thus adding capacity and value where it is most needed to release staff time.

UKERI ‘Collaborate’ – a peer-to-peer ‘support exchange’

Simple in concept but very powerful in use, ‘Collaborate‘ is a mobile-enabled web-App that connects peers together, enabling the sharing of strengths and a private way to ask for and connect with peer support. It moves beyond the traditional model of a public broadcast request for support (via email or social media) and creates a reciprocating model in a more structured and private manner, with group monitoring and reporting.

The App acts as a support broker between organisations and individuals who are seeking – and also willing to offer – reciprocal collaborative support in a set of pre-defined areas (as easily setup by an administrator). Any user can search for, identify, have geographically mapped, and be supplied with the contact details of a peer willing to offer support in a specifically required area. To do so all they have to do is be willing to also offer support in any other area!

The App has a history of usefulness: following an earlier pre-COVID developmental phase, it subsequently proved its value during the 2020 pandemic where it was used for regional local-government crisis-response planning. Such usage proved its potential wider value, leading to further development and simplification to meet the needs of any organisation seeking to share good practice and invoke a structured culture of peer-to-peer support exchange. For more information see here.

UKERI ‘Governor Support’ – ‘the little bank of big questions!’

A resource for non-education specialist school governors, ‘The Little Book of Big Questions!’ is a print book, eBook, web-site and podcast. It fills a critical gap for the thousands of committed but none-specialist, school governors. It sets out how to be a supportive critical friend to school leaders, explaining in clear terms what governors should ask school leaders (and why), and what assurances to look for in any answers. The resources plus Podcast aims to increase the confidence of all governors by providing a bank of ‘Big Questions’ to ask school leaders,  helping them to act as a critical friend through giving supportive challenge. Along with the questions are notes on the desired qualities to look out for in the discussions that such questions give rise to. By design, all questions and expectations are aligned to Ofsted’s definition of a good or better school.

UKERI ‘eSafety Cyber Challenge’ – ‘the ten important decisions all children should be equipped to make online’

Aligned with the all-important ‘Online Safety Bill‘, this resource helps educators isolate the ten most important age-appropriate judgements that children should be confident to make when online. The resource provides a simple and quick online way to role-play ten common scenarios, gently but clearly checking on a learners response and giving feedback along-the-way. The resource thus enables a teacher to know that what has been taught in theory has been understood in practice, as evidenced through good eSafety behaviours at individual child-level. Participants can print an optional ‘I’m eSafe‘ certificate having met the ‘Tech-ten Cyber Challenge‘. The resource has back-end reporting on group progress, and is very easy to administer requiring minimal set-up time. It is currently designed for KS1 – KS2 & KS3 – KS4 aged children.
